Main Duties of the Transport Co-ordinator based in Blackburn:

  • Coordinate the customer orders daily regarding transportation, drivers and 3rd party hauliers, and communicate information to the customers and all involved
  • Ensure strong communication channels throughout the internal team, as well as drivers and haulier companies, ensuring that your customer is in the loop every step of the way regarding their deliveries
  • Execute the daily delivery schedule, involving planning routes efficiently and flexibly, using any changes made to maximise efficiency as well as maintain customer service
  • Ensure all customer orders are delivered in accordance with the company’s standard policies and practices, entering all relevant data/information onto the in-house system
  • Work with customers to plan routes and schedule delivery times, including the proactive and professional management of all external transport
  • Take responsibility for any customer issues/problems, dealing with the customer in a timely and professional manner, and reporting any major concerns to the Manager as well as ensuring that the resolution and any cost is captured and communicated via the relevant systems
  • Close off completed jobs onto the IT system
  • Build strong, long standing relations with customers, haulage companies and drivers to promote the company brand, abilities and service
  • Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job.

Key Skills/Qualifications required

  • A minimum of 2 years experience working within a transport or logistics office is essential.
  • Experience of working with an IT System to manage transport and deliveries including a use of Excel
  • Strong attention to detail is required and accurate data input
  • Excellent geographical knowledge
  • Strong organisational and administration skills ideal for planning schedule, journeys and loads
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to communicate with drivers and customers effectively
  • Ability to remain calm and focussed in high peak times

Salary is negotiable, circa £25-£27k per annum - Free Parking, Pension, 25 days Holiday + Bank Holidays.
