We are seeking a dedicated Special Support Assistant to help a Year 3 child transition back to mainstream primary education from a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). This role is ideal for someone with experience in residential childcare or an SEMH school, who is passionate about supporting children in their educational journey.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to a Year 3 child, assisting them in adjusting and thriving in a mainstream primary school environment.
  • Implement strategies and support mechanisms to facilitate the child's social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Work closely with teachers and other educational staff to monitor the child's progress and adapt support measures as needed.
  • Engage the child in activities that promote learning and positive behaviour.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians to discuss the child's development and any concerns.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in residential childcare or an SEMH school.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children transitioning from a PRU to mainstream education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work empathetically and effectively with children.
