Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Health Physics Maintenance Technician to join our Health Physics Group at Culham. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and managing the supply of radiation protection sampling equipment, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and manage the supply of radiation protection sampling equipment, including Personal Air Sampling pumps and air samplers.
Undertake repairs, order spare parts, and ensure relevant records are accurately updated.
Act as the Waste Responsible Officer for the Health Physics Laboratory, sorting, categorising, and sentencing waste, and initiating transfer or clearance documentation.
Provide support to J1XE50 operations, including routine analysis and monitoring services in the HP laboratory.
Assist in the production of Electronic Transfer Certificates (ETC) for waste produced and support Radioactive Material Controllers (RMCs) in the production of RAM transfer documents.
Provide cover for overtime, shifts, and on-call support (Health Physics Duty Laboratory Technician) when required.
Perform other Health Physics related functions as determined by operational priorities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications Required:
GCSE in science and mathematics (or equivalent).
Experience Required:

Essential: Good working knowledge of English, numeracy skills, and basic computer literacy.
Desirable: Previous experience working with radioactive material and in occupational hygiene.
Skills and Attributes:
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality service to professional engineers and technicians.
Flexibility to respond to changes in operational priorities and work schedules.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Willingness to participate in on-call roster for silent hours response.
Must be a Monitored Radiation Worker and undergo a medical examination for Beryllium Workers.
Medical fitness to wear required personal protective and respiratory protective equipment.
A clean driving licence is desirable.
Health & Safety:
Safety training and dosimetry service provided for radiation/beryllium areas.
DSE self-assessment and area risk assessments conducted within office environments.
Local area induction and task-specific risk assessments for other working environments and tasks.
