Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity as an Accounts Assistant based in Bodmin. Our client is a well-established business renowned for delivering high-quality products and services in the South West. The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, you will join a small but dynamic finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. The position offers the chance to work across multiple aspects of finance, including purchase ledger, cash book, VAT and assisting with budgeting in a complex organisational set-up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing all aspects of the purchase ledger, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of invoices.
  • Handling cash book transactions, including payments, receipts, and bank reconciliations for the group.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the accuracy and integrity of general ledgers across a group of companies.
  • Assisting with month-end reporting, including reconciliations for various general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing BACS payments and contributing to budgets/forecasts for overheads.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements within the finance department.
  • Providing administrative support and resolving ad hoc financial queries.

What We're Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have the following:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills with sensitivity to the confidential nature of financial data.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software
  • Study towards an accounting qualification would be desirable but not essential.
