The RoleThe Residential Care Home, located just back from the seafront in a prime Felpham location, is seeking a dedicated Chef. The role involves preparing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to the needs and preferences of their residents. You’ll work every weekend and one flexible weekday from 08:00 to 18:30 with a paid break as part of a supportive team focused on excellent care.

They are looking for someone with at least two years of experience as a chef and a genuine passion for creating nutritious, home-cooked meals that enhance the well-being of their residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals according to residents' dietary needs, preferences, and care plans.
  • Ensure all meals meet food safety, hygiene, and nutritional standards, including texture-modified diets when required.
  • Plan weekly menus considering seasonal ingredients, dietary restrictions, and resident feedback.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, complying with food safety regulations (HACCP).
  • Manage food stock levels, placing orders to ensure availability while minimising waste.
  • Work closely with care staff to ensure mealtimes are a positive and inclusive experience for residents.
  • Engage with residents to understand their food preferences and adapt meals accordingly.
  • Ensure accurate allergen information is maintained and communicated effectively.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies, including fire safety and the home’s Emergency Plan.
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate effectively with staff and management.
  • Complete all mandatory training, including food hygiene and safety, and pursue further professional development as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and the organisation at all times.
  • Comply with all organisational policies and procedures.
