Freight Forwarder

We are seeking a proactive Freight Forwarder to join our Operations Team. This role is crucial for maintaining excellent customer service for our key clients and requires someone who can maintain and develop business relationships effectively. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the team to ensure all operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide a consistent ‘VIP’ service to external salespeople and clients.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy in data records on all systems used in the role.
  • Ensure productivity meets or exceeds levels agreed with the Operations Manager.
  • Demonstrate excellence in service delivery as part of the team’s overarching purpose.
  • Take proactive measures to minimise costs lost due to errors.
  • Handle customer queries via telephone and email, and monitor and maintain a shared inbox.
  • Obtain pricing and provide accurate quote and service information.
  • Manage customer bookings and input data into Multifreight and other systems.
  • Liaise effectively with customers, sub-contractors, suppliers, and agents.
  • Produce and send customer documentation, including bills of lading and instructions.
  • Carry out additional duties as required by the business, including networking and research to stay ahead in the industry.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A solid educational background in Maths & English.
  • Industry-related qualifications as agreed with your line manager.
  • Previous experience in a commercial environment or in a similar position.
  • Experience in import/export freight forwarding is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in using Multifreight and other relevant systems.
