Head of IT

Contract day rate - £600-£700 Inside IR35

London

Our client, a prominent public sector organization, is seeking an experienced Head of ICT to lead their technology operations and drive strategic transformation.

This senior leadership position reports directly to the Director of ICT and manages a substantial team of 4 senior managers, with indirect responsibility for 11 junior managers and 70 staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership for all ICT and Data Operations, including service desk, application delivery, infrastructure, and network operations
Lead ICT procurement and vendor management, ensuring value for money and service excellence
Oversee a portfolio of ICT programmes and projects, managing priorities and resource allocation
Direct the development and implementation of ICT and information security strategy
Manage multimillion-pound budgets and ensure compliance with financial strategies
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
Lead continuous service improvement initiatives to enhance ICT service delivery

Essential Requirements:

Proven experience managing large-scale ICT services, preferably in public sector
Strong track record of delivering complex transformation programmes
Extensive knowledge of ICT management standards including ITIL and PRINCE2
Experience managing significant budgets and delivering cost efficiencies
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels
Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
Understanding of public sector technology challenges and opportunities
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large technical teams

Location: On-site presence required with hybrid working options
