Qualified Occupational Therapist - Post-16 Provision (Havering)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a specialist Post-16 provision in Havering, supporting young people with additional needs as they develop essential life and independence skills. This small, person-centred setting caters for just 15 students, providing highly tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering specialist occupational therapy support, helping students build confidence, independence, and the practical skills required for adulthood. Working closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external professionals, the OT will ensure a holistic approach to therapy that enhances students’ functional abilities and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and deliver individualised occupational therapy interventions through 1:1 and small-group sessions.

  • Support students in developing fine and gross motor skills, sensory regulation, and daily living abilities to promote independence.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals to integrate therapy into students' educational and life skills programmes.

  • Contribute to and review EHCP targets, ensuring therapy aligns with each student’s needs and progress.

  • Provide training and guidance to staff, embedding effective occupational therapy strategies into the learning environment.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive setting, empowering students to develop their confidence and essential life skills.

Requirements:
  • A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification (Degree or MSc in OT).

  • HCPC registration (essential).

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a Post-16 or educational setting.

  • A strong understanding of sensory integration, motor development, and assistive technology.

  • A compassionate, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting students.
