Interim Systems and Performance Officer - Local Authority
Rate: £350 - £400 per day Inside IR35Location: MidlandsContract: Interim
We are currently seeking an Interim Systems and Performance Officer for a local government organisation based in the Midlands. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong systems and performance expertise to contribute to the efficiency and enhancement of financial operations within a complex environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration and development of financial systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and align with local and national regulations.
- Provide technical support and act as a liaison between ICT, suppliers, and various service areas.
- Manage the operation and enhancement of financial systems, including EFin, Civica, and Business Objects.
- Support Finance Business Partners in delivering accounting services and advising Council Management Teams and Boards.
- Deliver finance and system-related training to staff, ensuring compliance with relevant professional and statutory codes.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, reporting, and reconciliation procedures.
- Lead and manage a team including Finance Technicians, a Trainee Finance Officer, and a Finance Apprentice.
- Work alongside external and internal auditors to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Contribute to the council's financial transformation strategy by optimising system efficiencies and automation.
Key Requirements:
- Significant experience in a complex finance environment within a local government or public sector setting.
- Strong knowledge of financial management systems and proven ability to implement and enhance them.
- Experience in explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, including advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
- Ability to lead, manage, and develop a small team effectively.
- A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
