Tony Alan Recruitment currently has an exciting job opportunity for a Senior Payroll Manager to join a well-known organisation based just outside of the Brighton area on a fixed term contract

You will be joining a stable payroll team where you will be able to oversee and develop staff members whilst ensuring the payroll is processed effectively.

Your duties will include:

  • Identify, recommend, implement and measure continuous improvement in the Payroll processes
  • Lead and manage User Acceptance Testing to ensure business continuity and system functionality, upon the event of Payroll System Upgrade
  • Develop and maintain effective communications and dissemination of information between all sections of the HR Division on taxation, salary sacrifice and other related matters
  • Lead and manage the Payroll Team, including: recruitment; induction; training and development; appraisal and performance management; health, safety and wellbeing; and workload allocation; ensuring each member of staff can fulfil their responsibilities in the delivery of the payroll service
  • Advising on the correct taxation and manipulation of pay and benefits, enabling the Payroll Team and HR Business Partners to provide advice to staff
  • Manage the monthly processing of the payroll and the third-party payroll service ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements
  • Carry out accurate and timely reporting to HMRC
  • Manage the interface between the payroll system and the main accounting system
  • Ensure requirements are met for internal and external audits and liaise with auditors as appropriate to ensure audits relating to Payroll can be undertaken in full and that compliance is sustained through continuous improvement
  • Provide complex advice and information to managers and staff, in accessible ways, including explaining legislative requirements and impacts, and keeping up to date with changes

Key requirements:

  • A proven track record working in Payroll management role is essential
  • Soundknowledgeofpayrollprocesses andtaxation requirements
  • experience ofinterpreting andreconciling complex payrolland pensions' datafromavariety ofsources
  • Experienceofmanaging, motivatinganddevelopingstaff,demonstrating credibility and influence
  • Hold a recognised qualification in Payroll and Pensions e.g. CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent would be desirable but not essential
