Our client in the education sector is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager with superb leadership skills to join their large team on a long term FTC basis until September 2026.

As Senior Payroll Manager, you will report into the Director of HR and oversee a team of ten in total, with support of 2 payroll supervisors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Day to day management of the payroll team ensuring accurate and timely processing of 2x inhouse payrolls on a monthly basis
  • Identify, recommend and implement measures of continuous improvement
  • Be the University's payroll Subject Matter Expert in the operation of the payroll service
  • Carry out accurate and timely reporting to HMRC specifically the statutory mont Accountability of the outsourced Payroll
  • Responsible for Payroll systems improvements and changes (in the current HR system)
  • Training and development of the Payroll Manager and Supervisors,
  • Responsible for user acceptance testing of bespoke and larger-scope system releases and upgrades

Experience required:

  • Excellent people management & leadership skills
  • Experience of managing, motivating and developing staff
  • Exemplary UK payroll knowledge
  • Sound knowledge of occupational sickness, maternity and paternity schemes and their application.
  • Resourcelink experience is desirable
