Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of waste and recycling services, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Lead and manage site teams to deliver high performance, ensuring targets for recycling, diversion from landfill, and service quality are met or exceeded.
- Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental procedures in accordance with company policy and legal requirements (e.g., HSE, EA).
- Develop and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and site operating procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all permits, licenses, and reporting requirements are maintained and up to date.
- Manage budgets, resources, and procurement of equipment or services as required.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to staff, promoting a safety-first culture.
- Ensure all plant, machinery, and vehicles are maintained in safe working order and downtime is minimised.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior role within the waste management or recycling sector is ideal.
- Strong understanding of waste legislation, environmental compliance, and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence (or equivalent) required.
