About the CompanyWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting team, overseeing financial reporting, transactional accounting, and statutory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader who is comfortable managing multiple priorities within a complex, matrixed environment while driving operational efficiency and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities for the Financial Controller:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team providing general accounting, transactional accounting, and financial reporting services.
  • Internal Controls: Ensure effective design and operation of internal controls to mitigate financial risk and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations.
  • Statutory Reporting: Oversee local statutory reporting and ensure timely delivery of financial statements. Collaborate with external auditors to proactively plan audits and resolve potential issues.
  • Close Process Management: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliation reviews, financial analytics, and preparation of schedules.
  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with accounting standards. Document revenue recognition analysis and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Coordinate closely with business unit leadership and cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and provide key financial insights.
  • Process Documentation: Maintain and update process documentation, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) narrative documents to support compliance and internal audits.
  • Matrixed Environment: Work within a matrixed organisational structure, supporting multiple business leaders, including Finance teams in the UK and sector-specific accounting leadership.
  • Ad-hoc Reporting & Projects: Prepare ad-hoc reports and assist with special projects such as financial system support, data analysis, and process improvements as required.

Qualifications & Experience for the Financial Controller: 

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a senior financial role with a focus on accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory reporting, IFRS/GAAP, and revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience managing intercompany transactions and financial reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience in complex organisations
