Robert Half is partnering exclusively with a well-respected local government organisation in the South-West, seeking an experienced Local Government Internal Auditor for an interim project. If you have a strong background in public sector auditing, this fully remote role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on key audit areas
Job Title: Internal Auditor (Local Government Audit Experience is ESSENTIAL)
Location: Fully Remote (with occasional travel to South-West)
Rate: £250-£325 per day (via Umbrella, dependent on experience)
Duration: 3-6 months
Project Audit Areas:
You will focus on key internal audit service areas, providing valuable insight and recommendations for improvement. These areas include:
- Recruitment: Reviewing the effectiveness of new systems and ensuring they align with relevant policies.
- Waste Management: Ensuring charges are accurate and services are delivered per contract agreements.
- S106 Agreements: Assessing the management of S106 contributions from receipt to expenditure.
- Car Parks: Reviewing the income collection process for parking fees, permits, and excess charges, ensuring proper reconciliation.
- Cemeteries: Verifying income collection processes and documentation are managed effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting thorough audits across identified areas, providing actionable recommendations.
- Advising senior management on improving governance, risk management, and control frameworks.
- Collaborating with teams across the organisation to deliver insights and audit reports.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Essential: Extensive internal audit experience within local government or public sector settings.
- Highly proactive, organised, and able to work independently.
- Strong communicator, able to tailor messaging based on the audience.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems logically.
- Proficient in Excel and skilled in managing multiple priorities within set deadlines.
