1:1 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant working with a year 11 pupil on a short term basis. You would have experience of working with pupils who have ASD/ADHD and have a good understanding of challenging behaviour. This pupil will be attending off site provisions and you will be required to attend these with you. Whilst this position is only for a short term there may be opportunity for it to extend once a probationary period is completed. 

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to older pupils with ASD/ADHD, ensuring their educational and emotional needs are met.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Accompany and support pupils during off-site activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to create effective learning plans.
  • Monitor and report on the pupil’s progress, adapting approaches as needed to maximise learning outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, specifically with older pupils diagnosed with ASD/ADHD.
  • Knowledge and application of trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong ability to handle and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  • Physical fitness, capable of actively participating in off-site provisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting learning.
