Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant/Finance Manager seeking an exciting new opportunity? Our client is looking for a skilled finance professional to join their team on a Fixed Term Contract until August 2025 to provide essential financial management support, accurate monthly reports, and assist senior leadership with strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver monthly financial and management reports, providing senior managers with insights and forecasts for board meetings.
  • Perform full bookkeeping and accounting duties, managing sales and purchase ledgers, and producing monthly management accounts for a £1m+ turnover business.
  • Reconcile bank and nominal ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies for accurate record-keeping.
  • Review cash and income procedures, ensuring documentation is updated and value for money is achieved.
  • Prepare monthly and annual budgets with thorough financial analyses, aligning with recent developments.
  • Provide timely, accurate financial data to the Operations Director, meeting strict monthly deadlines.
  • Support the Operations Director with specialist financial reporting and data analysis as needed.
  • Verify internal transfers and journals for legitimacy, correct coding, and approvals.
  • Stay informed of VAT, AMLR, and relevant regulations; provide team training on compliance.

Essential Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your workload, meet deadlines, and multitask in a dynamic setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and finance systems.
  • Analytical mindset with creative problem-solving capabilities for detailed financial assessments.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in supervisory tasks such as scheduling and reviewing work.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience, or qualified by experience.
  • (Desirable) familiarity with best accounting practices and full ledger experience in a busy organisation.
