Client Profile:

Our client is a well established, non food FMCG distribution organisation with 4 main sites supplying larger items to a host of commercial clients with larger rental items across the UK. The role therefore focuses on delivery, collections/returns as well as fleet management.

Summary:

Management of a 6 x 3.5 tonne vans, drivers

Warehouse planning and assignment of local crew and freelancers.

Planning and coordinating deliveries

Ensuring vehicle maintenance, compliance with transport regulations, and optimising the transport operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.

To help the business to expand you will eventually arrange and apply for an O license & then assist with the purchase of heavy haulage vehicles & subsequent management of these.

Check and manage digital Tachograph cards

Ensure all vehicles are maintained in good working order, including regular servicing and inspections and record keeping

Coordinate repairs, MOTs servicing and maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.

Book crew onto the master jobs sheet and allocate the requisite amount of drivers and assistant crew to each job.

Liaise with the warehouse on availability of stock, job completion and loading

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and development opportunities for staff.

Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to transport and delivery.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and driver hours.

Monitor and manage transport costs, including fuel, maintenance, and staffing.

Prepare regular reports on transport operations, including performance metrics, costs, and issues.

Ideal candidate:

Must hold a current Transport Managers CPC

Ideally an O Licence holder

Leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities
