We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Engineering Manager (EM) to lead our clients Engineering Department. This is a pivotal leadership role that combines technical expertise with strategic vision, driving innovation and operational excellence within a world-class aerospace engineering environment.
About the Role:
As the Engineering Manager, you will:
Lead and develop a talented Engineering team, including CAD/CAM, Manufacturing, and NPI Engineers.
Develop, implement, and maintain robust Engineering Systems aligned with AS9100 and Sabre4 standards.
Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through to production, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and adherence to timelines.
Collaborate closely with customers, Operations, Quality Managers, and other stakeholders to resolve engineering challenges, improve manufacturability, and optimise production processes.
Champion a Zero Defect Manufacturing culture, targeting scrap and rework reduction.
Develop a technology roadmap to support business growth and innovation.
Play a key role in strategic decision-making as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Oversee CNC systems and processes, including advanced machining techniques (3/4/5 axis milling, turning, grinding, and robotics).
Key Responsibilities:
Product & Systems Excellence: Deliver engineered systems compliant with producibility, cost, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership: Inspire and guide engineers, fostering innovation and professional growth.
Customer Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison for engineering-related discussions with customers.
Strategic Development: Work with Commercial and Facilities teams on RFQs, bids, and ensuring manufacturing readiness.
Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean principles to enhance processes and reduce waste.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
A degree (BSc, BEng, MSc) in Engineering (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical) with proven technical expertise.
Extensive experience in New Product/Process Introduction (NPI) and production process improvement.
Strong understanding of drawing standards (GD&T) and special processes.
Familiarity with CNC systems and processes.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a hands-on, proactive approach.
Leadership experience with a track record of delivering improvements in cost and quality.
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing systems, including material treatments and characteristics.
Familiarity with SolidWorks/SolidCAM,Vericut, EDM, Wire Cut systems, and robotics.
Experience with Lean and Agile methodologies.
Understanding of quality systems (ISO9001, AS9100) and project management.
ERP system knowledge and Green/Black Belt certification are advantageous.
