Lead Carpenter - The role

We have an opening for an experienced carpenter to lead a team on site. We are looking for someone who is passionate and hard working, and has a keen eye for detail.

You will be responsible for upholding the quality of the work on site, planning and delegating the work, and working to time frames. Company culture is very important to us, and we are looking for someone who is positive, hardworking, and reliable.

You will have a close working relationship with the project manager, and good communications and ability to follow instructions are essential. You will be a good team player, working with subcontractors and supporting less experienced members of the team.

You must have a strong background in carpentry and building, with experience leading teams. Maybe you have been running your own building projects, or working for a local builder working on similar projects.

That said, we have found that the right attitude can be as valuable as years of experience, and we are happy to hear from you if you have less experience but are keen to step into the next challenge.

Lead Carpenter - Skills & Experience

• Excellent understanding of carpentry and building
• Knowledge of materials and processes and techniques
• Ability to read drawings and communicate details through sketches
• Coordinating / working alongside other trades
• Cutting lists and ordering materials
• Planning work to deadlines and delegating tasks
• Some experience of wet trades is an advantage

Lead Carpenter - Requirements

• Minimum 8 years carpentry experience
• Must have own tools and transport
• Preferably NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
• SMSTS
• Valid CSCS preferable
