The opportunity for a Junior Design engineer has come up to support the development of products from early prototypes to final production by collaborating with the Project Lead. As part of the project team, you will liaise with the operations, engineering and project management teams to deliver the project deliverables through the new product design phases.

Your Responsibilities

  • Development of products – you may be working alone or as part of a team.
  • Produce fully working high quality prototypes using model making techniques and/or 3D printing.
  • Test and evaluate designs and manage modifications.
  • Manage multiple and varied tasks concurrently.
  • Plan work to complete on time and to a high standard.
  • Communicate intentions and progress. Work with other departments to effectively progress the project.
  • Ability to communicate technical details through drawings/cross-sections & mock-ups, both handmade and CAD driven.
  • All critical information regarding the product is well documented and shared with the relevant departments.
  • Product test data is clearly presented and shared with project stakeholders.
  • Follows QMS Procedures and Work Instructions.

Requirments

  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience working in product development or R&D.
  • Academically trained in Product Design or Design Engineering.
  • Ability to interpret requirements to conceive & build solutions to problems.
  • Ability to produce high quality functioning prototypes.
  • Ability to build moulds for silicone parts.
  • Ability to test products and write reports.
  • Practical experience of 3D printing is essential.
  • Ability to use Solidworks CAD is essential, knowledge of PDM systems beneficial.
  • An understanding of production and manufacturing processes is essential.
  • Ability to communicate ideas via drawings, models and sculpts.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal staff and sub-contractors.
  • Experience with Arduino programming or similar would be beneficial.
  • Experience of mechatronics or an electromechanical background would be beneficial.
