Your new companyHays Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting students in a high school in Burnley. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual to make a significant impact on the lives of children with SEND in mainstream educational settings.Your new role

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, and Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Promote social and emotional development through positive behaviour management strategies.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working as a SEND TA in a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEND and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEND education.
