Assistant Finance Manager - Planning & Reporting

This role plays a key part in delivering financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts while supporting first-line business partnering for a specific area of the business.
The Role:
As Assistant Finance Manager, you will:
- Produce Financial Reports: Deliver weekly, periodic, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports, including financial and non-financial data, with accompanying top-line commentary and variance explanations.
- Oversee Budgets and Forecasts: Lead the preparation of accurate budgets and forecasts, collaborating with budget holders.
- Ensure Data Integrity: Manage period-end processes, including journal reviews, accruals, and prepayments.
- Streamline Reporting Processes: Work closely with the Business Intelligence team to improve efficiency and reporting methods.
- Provide Business Insights: Support first-line business partnering with balanced service, efficiency, and standardization.
- Deliver Project Justifications: Prepare initial justifications for capital expenditure projects.
As the Assistant Finance Manager, you will have:
- Qualifications: Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills (Macros/VBA) and knowledge of IBM Cognos Analytics or similar systems.
- Analytical Abilities: A proactive approach to solving problems and driving innovation.
- Communication Skills: The ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, tailoring messaging for different audiences.
- Experience: Background in financial reporting and analytics, preferably within retail or related sectors.
