About the Role:

Tradewind Recruitment is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and fulfilling Special Needs School in Burton on Trent. This is a full-time role, with working hours Monday to Thursday 08:15 to 16:15 and Friday 08:15 to 15:15.

The school specialises supporting young people with autism, speech and language disorders, moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated behavioural difficulties. The school provides person centred care and education and aims to help students to find a way of life that suits them. The school have excellent facilities, an onsite farm and an exceptional team who are committed to the care and support of the students.

Essential Skills:

  • Qualification (or willing to work towards) Level 3 or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Experience of working with a range of students/adults with SEN
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to support with challenging behaviour - we will provide you will the appropriate training and clothing that protects where necessary, and you will get to spend time getting to know the students alongside an experienced staff member so you can be confident in your ability to handle these situations safely.
  • Resilience, lots of energy and highly motivated
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety regulations
  • Willingness to support with personal care

Desirable Skills:

  • Qualifications in SEN
  • Previously supported students/adults with challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge of communication techniques
  • Awareness of sensory regulation strategies
  • Experience in supporting teaching and learning in schools

Pay Rates:

The daily rate of pay will vary depending on experience, ranging from £85 to £95.
