Our client is a supplier of underfloor heating solutions who have been supplying commercial and residential projects across the UK and Ireland for 30 years. Based in Woolpit, they are passionate about offering a professional, honest service and are proud of their high-quality products. They are looking for a like-minded individual to join their team as an CAD Technician/Estimator.

CAD Technician/Estimator

Up to£30k DOE | Woolpit | Full Time | Mon-Fri 8am-5pm | 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays(Increasing With Service)| Casual Dress Code | Company Pension | Company Events | On Site Parking | Sick Pay | Learning & Development Opportunities | Cycle To Work Scheme | Office Closure Over Christmas/New Year |

Duties (to include but are not limited to):

Pre-Sales Budgets

  • Review plans from client’s architects.
  • Size each project from the plans; liaise with architects or the customer to qualify their requirements.
  • Draft initial design for costing / quote purposes and sales enquiries.
  • Check design criteria is correct via multiple reviews.
  • Complete a quote sheet in excel.
  • Return information to the sales department for them to place or chase on order.

Full Design Work

  • Create a project matrix for each confirmed project / order.
  • Produce underfloor heating design layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Update project manager.
  • Liaise with the sales team in respect of any alterations required or made.
  • Produce heat loss calculations for electric and hydronic systems using MS Excel.
  • Use Willms to calculate pipe layouts and design hydronic systems.
  • Load "as installed" drawings onto the system for future reference.

Technical Support / Training

  • Respond to general technical queries or enquiries.
  • Liaise with architects / electricians and end users to resolve technical issues.
  • Respond to calls for underfloor repairs to existing systems.
  • Diagnose problems.
  • Raise repair quotations with terms and conditions via e-mail.
  • Explain terms and conditions with the customer as required.
  • Pass repairs and heating surveys to the installation team once quote is accepted.
  • Liaise with trade customers / end users in respect of OEM products.
  • Provide product/technical training for staff as required.

Installations

  • Provide the final system design drawings/test sheets for the installation team.
  • Liaise with installers to trouble shoot on-site problems.

Component Training

  • Diagnose faults on returned components.
  • Pass information back to the supplier / end user.
  • Recommend next course of action.

Person Specification:

  • Looking for a technically minded pro-active recruit to join a growing company.
  • Main role is producing underfloor heating estimates and design drawings using AutoCAD software
  • Good communication and IT skills required; part of role is handling technical calls & emails.
  • Knowledge/experience of mechanical heating services (plumbing/electrical) is beneficial
  • AutoCAD experience/knowledge is desirable
  • Training on products and systems provided in-house, may include on-site installation, repair visit, commissioning visit(s)
  • Good level of education
  • The ability to work on own, as well as part of a team
  • An organised and enthusiastic work ethic
  • 'Can-Do’ Attitude/Team Player
