Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team, contributing to the design and development of high-integrity gear transmission systems and components for the defence sector. You will work closely with the Technical Authority and cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of design projects, technical documentation, and associated engineering activities. Key Responsibilities: Lead the mechanical design of geared transmission systems, components, and assemblies. Re-engineer existing designs for new applications and design test equipment and procedures. Interpret and work from customer specifications and industry standards (geometric tolerancing). Develop technical deliverables including proposals, installation, and maintenance instructions. Expert usage of 2D & 3D CAD software (Solid Edge preferred) for component and assembly drawings. Collaborate with production engineering, supply chain, and other departments to resolve technical issues. Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, and continuous improvement activities. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (ISO, AGMA, DIN, etc.). Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality requirements. Key Skills and Qualifications: Education: Minimum: Diploma with relevant experience Preferred: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline Experience: Strong design skills in mechanical systems and transmission components Proficiency in CAD software (Solid Edge preferred) Experience with materials selection, gear rating, and structural components Knowledge of manufacturing processes and safety regulations Industry Standards: Familiarity with ISO, AGMA, DIN standards, and machinery safety regulations. Problem-Solving: Ability to make informed, data-driven decisions and solve technical challenges. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Ability to mentor and guide team members. Software: Experience with SAP or similar systems in the context of engineering design. Why Join Us?
