Bury Council are seeking an HR Business Partner to join their Human Resources and Organisational Development function. This role is crucial in ensuring that the council has the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right level, and at the right cost to achieve our LET’S DO It! vision. The HR Business Partner will provide leadership and expert advice within the Council's Children's Services department, focusing on achieving organisational goals and adding value.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead and direct the HR agenda within the Children's Service. Provide leadership and expert advice on absence management, workforce planning, transformation of services, employee relations, and staff development.
  • Act as an active decision-maker within the department, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the business activity, financial position, and related terms and conditions.
  • Input into the development of the Council’s overarching workforce strategy and lead on its implementation within areas of responsibility.
  • Take responsibility for specific Council-wide projects as agreed with the Director of People and Inclusion.
  • Provide high-level HR advice, manage restructures, and oversee a team of 3, handling casework effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner, ideally within local government and/or children's services.
  • Strong understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments.
  • Effective leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in managing teams and complex casework.
