About the RoleOur client are currently seeking a client-focused and enthusiastic Wills and Probate Solicitor to join their well-established and forward-thinking legal firm. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual looking to take the next step in their legal career within a supportive and dynamic environment.

This role offers location flexibility but does require regular travel to one of our offices and attendance to visits with clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drafting and Reviewing Legal Documents

  • Draft wills that reflect clients’ wishes, including complex wills with trusts, business, and agricultural considerations.

  • Prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) for both property & financial affairs and health & welfare.

  • Review and update existing legal documents to ensure compliance with current legislation and client needs.

2. Estate Administration

  • Apply for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.

  • Manage estate administration including asset collection, debt settlement, tax compliance, and distribution.

  • Ensure accurate record keeping throughout all estate matters.

  • Implement will-based trusts, including registering the trust and drafting associated documentation.

3. Client Consultation and Advice

  • Conduct initial client meetings to understand estate planning needs and offer tailored legal advice.

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance, answering client queries with professionalism and compassion.

  • Advise on inheritance tax planning, Deeds of Variation, and strategies to reduce liabilities.

4. Professional Practice

  • Adhere to professional standards as set by the SRA, Lexcel, CQS, and Legal Services Commission.

  • Handle all client matters with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Make effective use of available legal software to deliver high-quality, efficient services.

  • Stay current with changes in wills and probate law and actively pursue personal and professional development.
