Bury Council is seeking a proactive Digital Inclusion Ambassador to join our team. This role is central to supporting and promoting digital inclusion across the borough, helping residents embrace and effectively use digital technology. If you are passionate about digital empowerment and have a knack for community engagement, this position offers a rewarding opportunity.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work with the Digital Inclusion Group to support digital inclusion activities across the borough.
  • Represent Bury Council at various events and workshops to promote the digital agenda.
  • Respond to digital inclusion enquiries and signpost residents to appropriate digital support services and online resources.
  • Support the delivery, uptake, and evaluation of digital projects and programmes.
  • Assist in the marketing and communication efforts related to digital inclusion, including managing social media content and press releases.
  • Engage with digitally excluded groups, providing basic advice, support, and making onward referrals as needed.
  • Offer basic IT support during community digital activities, including setting up and troubleshooting equipment and software issues.
  • Support the management and promotion of the Council’s device loan scheme.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to expand the network of digital champions in the borough.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in community engagement or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of digital platforms and tools.
  • Ability to provide basic IT support and troubleshoot common hardware and software issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including outside normal working hours as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing data entry and clerical tasks.
  • A positive and proactive approach to promoting digital inclusion.
