Join Bury Council as a Digital Inclusion Ambassador and play a pivotal role in promoting digital inclusion across the borough. This position offers the opportunity to work flexibly, including outside normal working hours, to support the community effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Represent the Council’s digital inclusion agenda at various events and workshops, promoting the benefits of digital skills and training.
  • Respond to digital inclusion enquiries and signpost residents to appropriate digital support services and online resources.
  • Support the delivery, uptake, and evaluation of digital projects and programmes, ensuring their success and community impact.
  • Engage with the community through social media, press releases, and direct interactions to advocate for digital inclusion.
  • Provide basic IT support and troubleshooting, including setting up and resolving issues with hardware and software.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to expand the network of digital champions, enhancing digital skills across the borough.
  • Organise and attend meetings, manage data entry, and perform clerical duties as required to support digital inclusion initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in community engagement or a similar role, with a focus on digital inclusion preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IT hardware and software, with the ability to provide basic technical support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of the role, including working outside normal hours when necessary.
