Position Overview

We areseeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting children with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to engage with the curriculum and make progress in their education. If you are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and have the skills to support their learning needs, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet individual student needs
  • Assist with personal care and support where required
  • Monitor and track student progress, reporting to the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teacher
  • Help implement strategies outlined in individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students
  • Assist with managing student behavior in accordance with school policies
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to students as they overcome challenges
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, parents, and external agencies to support student development

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a school setting, is highly desirable
  • A calm, patient, and caring approach to working with children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of various SEN, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and physical disabilities
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies and the ability to implement them effectively
