Position Overview
We areseeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting children with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to engage with the curriculum and make progress in their education. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Support the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet individual student needs
- Assist with personal care and support where required
- Monitor and track student progress, reporting to the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teacher
- Help implement strategies outlined in individual education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students
- Assist with managing student behavior in accordance with school policies
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to students as they overcome challenges
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, parents, and external agencies to support student development
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a school setting, is highly desirable
- A calm, patient, and caring approach to working with children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Understanding of various SEN, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and physical disabilities
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies and the ability to implement them effectively
