Head of Core Infrastructure

A fantastic opportunity to work with one of our key clients as a Head of Core Infrastructure

Location: 1 day per week onsite in Cambridge

Salary: 56,000 - 64,000

Role description:

  • Ensure IT Infrastructure Availability and Stability: Manage core IT infrastructure with a focus on maximizing availability and minimizing disruptions through monitoring, proactive actions, and preventative maintenance.

  • Collaborate for Seamless Service Transitions: Work with various teams to ensure smooth transitions of services and solutions, aligning with operational plans and strategies for system and equipment upgrades.

  • Develop and Implement IT Policies and Security Measures: Lead the development of IT strategies, policies, and security measures, including business continuity and disaster recovery, while providing performance and capacity reports to IT directors.

  • Collaborate with the Procurement Department to manage and optimize purchase and support contracts, delegate small-scale acquisitions, and oversee expenditures to ensure adherence to purchasing procedures and maximize financial performance.

  • Oversee Core IT Teams for Optimal Service Delivery: Manage Data Management, Security, Network Service, and Platform and Storage Management teams to ensure support meets service levels through effective resource prioritization and deployment.

  • Foster a High-Performing, Customer-Focused Workforce: Provide leadership to build an efficient, motivated, and customer-centric team, while guiding individual development and implementing performance management programs.

Skills / Qualifications required:

  • Higher degree and significant demonstrable professional experience in a similar role working with 3rd parties.

  • Extensive and recent experience in an infrastructure or datacenter management role within a medium-sized corporate environment.

  • Proficient in ITIL principles of Change, Availability, and Capacity Management.

  • Significant experience in people management, including performance and absence management as well as coaching.

  • Proven experience in managing supplier relationships, including large support and service contracts.

  • Excellent organizational skills with effective delegation abilities.
