We are welcoming applications from an experienced payroll professional, for a temporary role, working for a fabulous organisation with an outstanding reputation. This role to start immediately, until the end of the year, working full-time with hybrid working available.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be part of a wider team, responsible for employment-related payments to all staff, ensuringall statutory, contractual and legislative requirements are met. This is a large and complex operation, working across multiple payrolls and pay frequencies, so applicants will need to be able to demonstrate extensive experience within a similar role. Your principal responsibilities will cover several key outputs including payroll processing, data entry, analysis and reporting, year-end, policy and procedural review and team leadership. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate In-depth knowledge of current and past payroll legislation and procedures including tax, NI and statutory payment rules and regulations, year-end processes, P11d’s, and attachment of earnings orders. A self-starter, with drive and motivation, you will be able to accurately identify, investigate and resolve complex issues with a high level of initiative towards problem solving. You will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and external bodies. As this is a leadership role, you will need to have experience of training staff in all areas of payroll,assisting with interviews and undertaking probations and appraisals

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Extensive payroll experience of working in a large and complex organisation
  • In-depth knowledge of current and past payroll legislation and procedures including year-end processes, P11d’s, statutory payments, attachment of earnings orders
  • Able to accurately identify, investigate and resolve complex issues with a high level of initiative towards problem solving
  • Able to plan and organise tasks and workloads effectively having a logical pragmatic approach to decision making to ensure deadlines are met
  • In-depth knowledge of medium to large sized payroll systems such as MHR iTrent
  • In-depth knowledge of current and past tax,NI and statutory payment rules and regulations
  • Able to manually calculate gross to net and net to gross payments accurately
  • Able to perform complex accounting reconciliations
  • Knowledge of GDPR able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Able to communicate with all levels of staff and external bodies e.g.HMRC, Auditors
  • Able to train staff in all areas of payroll, assist with interviews, undertake probations and appraisals
