I am currently working with a leading consultancy that have undergone extensive expansion over the last 3 years and are ready to move to the next stage of growth. To help facilitate this growth they are seeking to recruit an immediately available Group Financial Controller with experience of project accounting and revenue recognition to start on a three month temp to perm basis.

Strategic

  • Support the leadership team and the wider business in driving the key aspects of the financial strategy, in conjunction with the other functional areas, and supporting the business in key decision-making processes with data and insight
  • Supporting the Leadership Team when it comes to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements and being key contributor when providing insightful comments and analysis to Board members and senior Executives
  • Recommends the right strategies to ensure the organisation adheres to relevant corporate governance procedures and applies best practice internal controls.
  • To support and challenge constructively the Leadership Team in ensuring the development and execution of key business strategies to create incremental shareholder value year over year

Finance Operations

  • Overall accountability for all day-to-day accounting operations - this will include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Project Cost Accounting and accurate Revenue Recognition, Treasury, Inventory and Capex Accounting.
  • Ensure finance ledgers are maintained on a timely basis, are accurate and complete, and structured for the dual purpose of providing relevant information to internal users and meeting statutory obligations
  • To ensure the completion of the monthly management accounts, annual statutory accounts, financial returns and reports in accordance with guidance and externally determined deadlines
  • Accountable for delivering reports (annual and monthly) and metrics which support the running and decision-making process identifying results, trends and forecasts.
  • Ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed and reported properly and with integrity.
  • Ensuring business processes and accounting policies are documented to maintain internal controls
  • Accountable for the consolidation and agreement of the inter-company balances on monthly basis
  • Manage the safeguarding and management of Group cash flow, debt and debt collection. This includes daily cash flow monitoring and management of weekly cash flow production and reporting to Leadership team
  • Support the commercial team to develop robust accounting processes (incl Revenue recognition) for key projects including management of assets, stock & WIP. Also supporting the delivery on in-depth insights on performance of each project.
  • Leading and managing financial department staff in UK and other jurisdictions as they arise

Budgeting and Planning

  • Supporting the Leadership team in delivering the annual budgeting and reforecasting processes across the Group for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and all critical KPI’s
  • Providing meaningful insights, dynamic reporting and analysis on key trends and movements of the same.
  • Monitor and be responsible for managing the systems that control and report on capital expenditure and fixed assets. Provide the senior team with timely and accurate information in respect of actual and forecast capital expenditure.

Business Partnering

  • Support Commercial and Leadership Team in reviewing of commercial performance of the business, providing finance support to other functional areas within the business and support decision making with data and insight
  • Build productive working relationships with stakeholders in order to understand their business operations and the financial information needs of end users
  • Work with non- finance managers to support and drive the financial and commercial agenda into the business

Governance and Audit Assurance

  • To ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company’s financial and tax statements and full compliance with all laws and regulations in all jurisdictions where business is conducted.
  • Responsible for ensuring internal and external reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations in the jurisdictions that the business operates.
  • Accountable for the annual audit process and key liaison with external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for contributing to the development of wider group strategy for managing and controlling balance sheet risk within the business

Continuous Improvement

  • Supporting the continuous improvement agenda within the business including streamlining and improving of accounting and other supporting systems to drive automation into ways of working
  • Review of end to end to processes and associated policies and procedures to deliver highly efficient and productive operating model with the appropriate level of controls.
