Location: Cardiff Bay (2 - 3 days in the office is required)

An IT and Facilities Technician is vital in providing technical and physical infrastructure support to our client, a leading software company in Cardiff Bay. This hybrid role combines responsibilities from IT support and facilities management, which can vary depending on the organisation’s size and specific needs.

The IT and Facilities Technician role is ideal for someone who enjoys working and learning technology and has a practical approach to maintaining a physical workspace. This may suit an experienced candidate, a recent graduate OR someone looking for a new challenge that has the required attitude/skillset.

It requires a diverse skill set and offers a dynamic work environment where every day can bring new challenges.

Typical Responsibilities

IT Support

  • Providing technical support to employees, including helpdesk duties.
  • Training staff on software and hardware usage.
  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Performing regular data backups and ensuring data security.
  • Managing cloud services.
  • Assisting with disaster recovery planning.

Facilities Management

  • Overseeing the maintenance of the physical workplace, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems.
  • Coordinating repairs and ensuring that the facility complies with safety regulations.
  • Managing building access, security systems, and surveillance.
  • Ensuring that the workplace complies with health and safety regulations.

Experience needed

  • An all-round technical background in IT support
  • Is confident and has the desire to provide assistance in office repairs/facilities management needs
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.

Person needed

  • An analytical mindset with the ability to think outside the box
  • Has the tenacity to research problems and come up with a solution
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical users.
  • A can-do attitude
  • A highly customer-focused mentality
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Desirable (not essential)

  • IT-related qualifications (CompTIA, MS Certifications, Degree)
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure and AWS)
  • Strong working knowledge of MacOS
  • Familiarity with basic principles of Cyber security and data privacy

Remuneration

  • £23,000 - £28,000 per annum
