Milk Education are working in partnership with a Special Education Needs school in Chigwell specifically cater for children with ASC and are seeking a highly effective and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join them to support students with a range of with Special Educational Needs gain access to the curriculum.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support pupils achieve their potential by ensuring lesson materials are used effectively in order for students to make progress towards their target levels. The role will include creating a safe and caring environment for children who love learning and working together to ensure each pupil is given the best opportunity to achieve success both within and beyond the school environment.
Learning Support Assistants will believe in providing the best possible education for each child through personalized, stimulating and enjoyable learning.
About the role:
- Plan, prepare and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the direction and supervision of a teacher.
- Build a positive relationship with pupils, promoting high self-esteem, independence and social inclusion.
- Support students with their social, emotional and mental health needs, escalating concerns where appropriate
- Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent communication skills: the ability to make written and oral points clearly to students, staff and parents.
- Experience of working with pupils with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum.
- Experience of using a range of strategies to influence individual and group behaviour.
- Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning
