Environmental, Chemical & HSE Advisor

About Our Client: Our client is a global leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, committed to advancing safer and more sustainable aviation for both present and future generations. They design, test, manufacture, and assemble landing gear for commercial aircraft (Airbus, Boeing) and UK military aircraft, including the Eurofighter Typhoon. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate environmental assessments (Aspects & Impacts) for the site and develop risk reduction plans.
  • Advise employees and managers on Health, Safety, and Environmental issues, consulting with the wider HS&E team when necessary.
  • Support data collection and reporting for regulatory compliance, including verification of COMAH and environmental permit compliance.
  • Assess noise, vibration, and air quality in collaboration with the HS&E team.
  • Conduct surface and treated water analysis, verifying batch release and permit compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HS&E management systems through the creation of procedures and practices.
  • Investigate accidents, spills, and incidents, assisting departmental managers in identifying corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct audits of the HS&E management systems, identify improvements, and ensure follow-through on action items.
  • Provide regular reports and dashboards to the HS&E Manager and departments to aid in continuous improvement.
  • Offer HS&E input to site projects as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of computerized HS&E systems.
  • Provide support and advice to the wider workforce on HS&E matters.
  • Lead the EMS system, overseeing continuous improvement, monitoring performance, and supporting audits.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines.
  • High level of discretion and sensitivity with confidential matters.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to interact effectively across all levels.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of Health & Safety and/or Environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of chemical expertise and COSHH management is highly desirable.
  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in computer systems, including SharePoint.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent).
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) is preferred.
