Join our dedicated Adolescent Safeguarding and Exploitation Team (ASET) and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.

About the Role:

As part of our dedicated Adolescent Safeguarding and Exploitation Team (ASET), you will play a crucial role in supporting young people aged 14 to 17 who are at risk of, or experiencing, harm outside of the family home. This can include:

  • Child exploitation: Sexual, criminal, county lines
  • Mental health crises
  • Radicalisation
  • Homelessness

You will:

  • Form positive and trusting relationships with young people, building rapport and understanding their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Negotiate and advocate on behalf of young people to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Work closely with other teams within the council, including Child Exploitation, Supporting Solutions and Rapid Response, as well as partner agencies such as the police and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
  • Utilize the Signs of Safety social work model to understand young people's experiences and develop effective support plans.
  • Participate in regular group supervision to support the embedding of Signs of Safety practice.
  • Receive regular reflective case supervision and support with the most important decisions.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of young people and maintain a good work-life balance.
  • Benefit from a limited caseload to ensure you can provide high-quality, individualized support.

About You:

  • You are a qualified and registered Social Worker with relevant experience of working with adolescents.
  • You possess excellent communication, assessment, and intervention skills.
  • You are a strong advocate for children and young people.
  • You are a team player with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • You are committed to working within a strengths-based framework.
  • You have experience of working with the Signs of Safety model (desirable).
