Student Support Officer

Location: Chesterfield (S43)

Pay: 100 - 120 per day

Long Term Futures are currently working in collaboration with a mainstream secondary school in Chesterfield (S43) to appoint a Student Support Officer. The job holder will work within the pastoral team to provide support for young people who are facing challenges that impact their academic progress, wellbeing and behaviour.

Role Responsibilites:

  • Maintain accurate attendance records, monitor punctuality and address absences promptly.
  • Take a lead role in managing the behaviour of a year group.
  • Place students on Pastoral Support Manager report and monitor these students for a 2-week period.
  • Collaborate with the School Attendance Officer to identify students and families who need input and early intervention.
  • Provide targeted support to reintegrate excluded students back into class.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, parents, school staff and external agencies.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of student progress, behaviour and interventions.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to maintain communication with students' families and external agencies.
  • To attend case reviews and/or case conferences as required and to prepare reports as necessary.
  • Utilise a range of strategies to improve student confidence, well-being, and academic achievement.
  • Set clear behaviour expectations and promote a positive school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, and families.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral role.
  • Ability to work effectively with students with additional support needs.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute to positive outcomes for students.
