Payroll Administrator/Coordinator (Temporary)

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire (Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days at home, with flexibility for more remote work)Contract Type: Temporary, lasting 2-6 monthsSalary: £25,000 - £28,000 (equivalent)Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (flexible to consider 30 hours over 5 days)

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator/Coordinator to manage payroll processes for a large organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, as well as supporting the implementation of a new payroll system. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing payroll processes to ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Supporting the transition to a new payroll system and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Completing payroll reporting, including gross to net reports and analysis of deductions.
  • Ensuring timely loading of payroll payments onto the bank for processing.
  • Managing payroll deductions and ensuring appropriate taxes are paid to HMRC within deadlines.
  • Checking and processing employee expenses with proper approvals.
  • Responding to payroll-related queries promptly and professionally.
Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven experience in payroll within a large organization (1000+ employees).
  • Proficiency in Sage Payroll and familiarity with multiple payroll software systems.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Highly organised, thorough, and proactive in approach.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Experience with Time Management Systems is advantageous.
