Are you looking for a varied role where no two days are the same? We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Cashier to join our client's team. As a Legal Cashier, you will oversee all aspects of the cashiering function, handling financial transactions and ensuring precise record-keeping for the law firm.

Our Client

Our client, a premier law firm in the South of England, specialises in a broad spectrum of legal services, from handling private client affairs such as wills and probate to real estate and business services.

Responsibilities

  • Providing high quality, timely, and professional accounting services in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Maintaining Client Ledgers: Recording Client Receipts and Payments, issuing client and office cheques, processing office invoices and disbursements, and transferring Costs.
  • Invoicing: Posting client invoices and maintaining reports on work in progress and paid bills.
  • Nominal Ledger Management: Handling payments and receipts, and reconciling ledgers using remittance advices and received invoices.
  • Generating Monthly Reports: Including Credit Control Report, Debtors Reports, Business Source Report, Bank Reconciliations, and managing outdated cheque cancellations and reissuances.
  • Banking Duties: Conducting daily reconciliations for office and client accounts, depositing cash and cheques, and utilising online banking for payments.
  • Miscellaneous Tasks: Collaborating with the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA) and performing any additional reasonable duties assigned by the Directors.

Requirements

  • Legal cashier: 2 years (required)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to prioritise work and cope well in periods of high volume
  • Confident and articulate
  • IT literate, with good Excel and Word skills
  • The ideal candidate will be numerate, pro-active, and enthusiastic
