Facilities Assistant, a permanent, full time post working within the educational sector. Based just outside Chippenham, this position offers an experienced facilities assistant the opportunity to ensure that the school site remains safe, is running smoothly and receives immediate maintenance and remedial works as and when required.

Working on a Monday to Friday basis, 37 hours per week, offering an annual salary of £24,000 plus a range of highly attractive benefits, the role of Facilities Assistant reports to the school Estates Manager, ensuring that the ongoing security of the school is of upmost importance, with further responsibilities including the opening and safe locking up of the school and other external buildings.

As Facilities Assistant you will be requested to conduct school site inspections to check that lighting, school decoration and electrical equipment is if good working order and in line with H&S compliance. Naturally, there is a need to call in professional contractors when handling any utility and site service repairs and replacement, reporting all findings to the Estates Manager and wider management team.

Additional duties will also include the mandated testing and inspection of Fire, Evacuation and Legionella assessments, coupled with the need to check safe levels of operation across the school premises. With added responsibility for Plant Management and machinery breakdown management, this position offers variety, training, learning and further development. We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate previous experience gained in with facilities, caretaking, maintenance and/or site management. You will need a Full UK Driving Licence as the role may include travelling to and from suppliers when collecting stock and goods.
