About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to provide financial direction and oversight across the council. As Director of Finance, Pensions & Procurement, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and Corporate Directors to ensure financial sustainability, effective resource management, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Shape financial policy and decision-making to support the council’s long-term goals.
- Budget & Financial Management: Lead the development and delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, ensuring effective financial planning and risk management.
- Performance & Transformation: Drive continuous improvement and innovation across finance, pensions, and procurement services.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, oversee external audits, and manage the production of annual financial statements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert financial advice to senior leadership, elected members, and external partners.
- Procurement & Investment: Set strategic procurement policies and maximise the impact of council investments.
- Treasury & Debt Management: Lead treasury management and ensure sound debt control practices.
