Accounts Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join this Colchester office. You will play a pivotal role in financial and accounting processes, working for a company that values your growth and professional development within the accounts department.

They are a one-stop shop for painting and decorating supplies, materials, tools and accessories. With many years of experience, they provide a huge range of trade-quality paints and painting accessories from all the major brands to both a trade and retail customer based.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support with the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts and month end duties, ensuring relevant schedules and deadlines are met
  • Preparation of balance sheet and cashbook reconciliations
  • Month end journals
  • Preparation of VAT return
  • Analysis to support the budgeting, forecasting and benchmarking process
  • Preparation or support with reporting
  • Provide support during internal and external audits
  • Other Ad-hoc work/projects as and when required

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a finance department
  • A dedicated team player who thrives on continuous improvement
  • Familiar with using computerised financial systems and software
  • Excellent attention to detail and numeracy with the ability to be efficient and accurate
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Computer literate with a strong knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word
