About the Role


Antony James Recruitment Ltd are working with a growing commercial business based in Colchester in recruiting an Accounts Payable Clerk on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a key role in managing supplier accounts, processing invoices accurately and efficiently, and supporting the finance team in maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process a high volume of purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and process payment runs, including BACS and CHAPS payments.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is filed appropriately.
  • Handle supplier queries in a professional and timely manner, building strong working relationships.
  • Assist with month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments relating to accounts payable.
  • Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in an accounts payable role, ideally within a commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
