About the Role
Antony James Recruitment Ltd are working with a growing commercial business based in Colchester in recruiting an Accounts Payable Clerk on a 6-month fixed-term contract.As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a key role in managing supplier accounts, processing invoices accurately and efficiently, and supporting the finance team in maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare and process payment runs, including BACS and CHAPS payments.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is filed appropriately.
- Handle supplier queries in a professional and timely manner, building strong working relationships.
- Assist with month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments relating to accounts payable.
- Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven experience in an accounts payable role, ideally within a commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
