MacKenzie King are recruiting a Payroll Advisor, on a 12-month fixed term contract, to join a reputable business, based north of Colchester. As a Payroll Advisor you will use your knowledge to play a lead role in performing the administration of the pay and benefits for 2,000 UK employees. You will work alongside and support the Senior and Junior Payroll Assistants in the team and support the Payroll Services Manager on projects and a varied caseload.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accurate processing of payroll changes including joiners and leavers, contractual changes and benefit enrolments. Responsibilities include data entry and peer review of work within the team using payroll software.
  • Reconciling data to third party reports and invoices.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc and monthly payroll reports.
  • Processing payments to employees and third parties.
  • Working with other members of the team on projects and shared workloads.
  • Providing advice and responses to stakeholder and employee queries.
  • Ensuring compliance through management of incoming files from HMRC (P6, SL1 etc.), accurately processing statutory payments and deductions and the submission and reconciliation of RTI files.
  • Ensuring adherence to National Minimum Wage and pension auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Providing an accurate, efficient and professional payroll service to the business.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • UK Payroll experience is essential.
  • CIPP Foundation Degree or equivalent helpful.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Confident understanding of payroll practices and legislation.
  • Confident understanding of the calculations of PAYE, NI and all aspects of a payslip.
  • Strong team player able to work closely with colleagues and provide support where needed.
  • Providing maximum value and efficiency by identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Taking ownership of own workload.
  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
  • Results driven performer committed to the complete and accurate processing of the payroll.
