We are seeking a dedicated Catering Manager to oversee the operational efficiency of our school’s catering service. This role involves strategic planning and management of catering provisions for students, staff, special events, and boarding, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and health and safety within budget limitations.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Prepare and present all food to the required school standard, ensuring compliance with recognised catering standards.
  • Order raw materials and supplies, check deliveries, and manage proper storage of all food items.
  • Monitor menu planning, ordering, and ensure prompt service of meals and functions as required.
  • Implement local promotions/theme days and manage stock control and rotation.
  • Organise special functions, which may include working outside of normal hours.
  • Oversee the cashless catering system and vending machines, ensuring a fully costed menu for portion control.
  • Prepare trading records and actively monitor satisfaction with the food provided.
  • Hold regular team meetings and liaise with senior school managers as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of Level 2 food and hygiene
  • Proven experience in catering management, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit, train, and manage a catering team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and food hygiene standards.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, procurement, and stock control.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality food and service within budgetary constraints.
