Responsibilities of the Design Engineer

  • Generate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Perform a variety of design processes in areas such as aerodynamics, thermodynamics & fluid mechanics, mechanical systems and mechanisms
  • Support the development & qualification of new technology such as sensors, controllers, pumps, coatings, materials etc.
  • Contribute to the creation of compliance documents such as test reports, design/analysis reports, safety assessments etc.
  • Provide support for legacy programs to all stakeholders (manufacturing, operators, OEMs)
  • Development of in-house software and engineering tools that can be demonstrated to reduce costs, increase quality or expand existing capability
  • Assist practical work building prototypes, machines, assembling test rigs etc.

Experience required for the Design Engineer

  • Undergraduate Engineering Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering
  • 3D & 2D CAD modelling software
  • Data analysis software such as Matlab
  • DAQ and control software such as NI Labview
  • Testing and verification experience
  • Can produce new and original ideas and concepts
  • Able to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with an ability to problem solve
  • Values and promotes rigorous documentation and recording of data
