Responsibilities of the Design Engineer
- Generate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
- Perform a variety of design processes in areas such as aerodynamics, thermodynamics & fluid mechanics, mechanical systems and mechanisms
- Support the development & qualification of new technology such as sensors, controllers, pumps, coatings, materials etc.
- Contribute to the creation of compliance documents such as test reports, design/analysis reports, safety assessments etc.
- Provide support for legacy programs to all stakeholders (manufacturing, operators, OEMs)
- Development of in-house software and engineering tools that can be demonstrated to reduce costs, increase quality or expand existing capability
- Assist practical work building prototypes, machines, assembling test rigs etc.
Experience required for the Design Engineer
- Undergraduate Engineering Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering
- 3D & 2D CAD modelling software
- Data analysis software such as Matlab
- DAQ and control software such as NI Labview
- Testing and verification experience
- Can produce new and original ideas and concepts
- Able to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and customers
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Self-motivated with an ability to problem solve
- Values and promotes rigorous documentation and recording of data
