Job purpose:
Oversee a dynamic team, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and customer service. This role is ideal for someone with strong retail management experience and a passion for aquatic life.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage a team of staff, overseeing recruitment, training, and development.
- Communicate effectively with the owner, area managers, and office staff.
- Maintain optimal stocking levels through ordering and stocktakes.
- Ensure excellent animal welfare including licensing, husbandry, and sales of tropical livestock.
- Oversee the maintenance of the site and housekeeping standards.
- Manage the EPOS computer system and both internal and external data systems.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in retail store management.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the aquatic trade (highly beneficial).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- High standards of customer service and the ability to use initiative to drive business success.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
- Must have own transportation.
- Flexibility to adapt to seasonal changes in the business.
- Local candidates preferred.
- First aid and forklift training are advantageous.
