Job purpose:

Oversee a dynamic team, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and customer service. This role is ideal for someone with strong retail management experience and a passion for aquatic life.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage a team of staff, overseeing recruitment, training, and development.
  • Communicate effectively with the owner, area managers, and office staff.
  • Maintain optimal stocking levels through ordering and stocktakes.
  • Ensure excellent animal welfare including licensing, husbandry, and sales of tropical livestock.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the site and housekeeping standards.
  • Manage the EPOS computer system and both internal and external data systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in retail store management.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the aquatic trade (highly beneficial).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • High standards of customer service and the ability to use initiative to drive business success.
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to seasonal changes in the business.
  • Local candidates preferred.
  • First aid and forklift training are advantageous.
